Lisa Bates – Principal

Lisa started dancing at the age of 3 in her local church hall and has never looked back since! During her childhood, through to her later teens she competed in many festivals across the country and took exams within the IDTA and ISTD examination boards. Through taking exams she was also nominated for scholarships.

As much as Lisa loved to perform, her passion was always teaching and working with children. When she gained her teaching qualifications with the International Dance Teacher Association (IDTA) she was fortunate enough to teach at an established school in the Midlands, teaching both grade classes and festival work to children, some who are or have been performing around the world in all genres of dance.

As well as teaching, Lisa is honoured to be involved with ‘All England Dance’ in which she has assisted in the running of the regional finals for many years. This is where Lisa gets to see some of the best dance schools in the country and hopes to one day be there as a teacher!

Unite Dance has been a dream of Lisa for so long and with the partnership of Andy Poulton, this dream has become a reality! At Unite Performing Arts, Lisa’s love for dance and the arts will be passed on to many children to the highest standard, and she cannot wait to welcome your children into the Unite family.
